Default Overrated Authors

I just wondered if there were any authors that maybe you felt were overrated? Lots of press about how great their books were and so you got sucked in to reading them.

The main one for me is Dan Brown. I hate the fact that he will have a chapter to a page, I find that his writing style is very childish. I also find his stories aren't that great too.

Am I alone in this one?

I haven't read any Dan Brown, so can't really comment on his books, but I tend not to read very many reviews of books. Reading is so subjective - like films I guess - that what floats my boat, you may find truly bad

I agree, Vickietots about Dan Brown, very overrated and the plots far too contrived for me.

Have either of you seen the films made of his stuff? Are they any clearer?

I must admit that I have not seen any of the films either! I decided not too after reading one of his books, I thought I couldn't put up with the films!!

Yes he has put me off good and proper!

I must admit that I used to devour books when I was younger and I didn't really mind if they were bad, but as I am getting older I am getting more picky! Patricia Cornwell is another author that I can do without! All very samey and not a lot of substance going on!
